San Lorenzo de El Escorial

It is a municipality and town in Spain, in the Community of Madrid.

Located in the heart of the Sierra de Guadarrama, just 50 kilometers from Madrid, this city offers tourists an exclusive architectural heritage, a privileged natural environment and a rich cultural proposal.

The main attraction of the city is the Royal Monastery of El Escorial. This monument is the Best example of the Spanish ‘Golden Age’ ideological and cultural aspirations. Promoted by Philip II, Juan Bautista Toledo first started managing the Project in 1563, although in 1567 Juan de Herrera took charge.

This Historical-Artistic Complex, located at the top of the Mount Abantos, is a breathtaking monument of impressive dimensions and immeasurable cultural value. The complex integrates a variety of different rooms and spaces such as the Patio de Reyes, the Basílica, the library, the Panteón de Reyes, the Panteón de Infantes, the Palaces, and a vast of houses (The Casa de los Oficios, the Casa de los Infantes y de la Reina, the Royal Coliseum of Carlos III and the Casita del Infante), among others.
